Paving that Lasts
Proudly Since 1984
Nigel Jones, the founder and President of Appian Construction, Inc., pioneered the use of sand-set pavers in the Puget Sound region. He installed Washington State's first concrete pavers at the Edmonds waterfront. Recognizing a gap in the market after years on the sales side of hardscape products, he established Appian Construction in 1981 and incorporated it in 1984. Since its inception, Appian has participated in several high-profile projects, including the Seattle Center Fountain, various University of Washington campus developments, the South Lake Union area, numerous regional stadiums, King Street Station, and Post Alley.

In 1999, Nigel once again recognized a need. This time, it was for an easy-to-use, cost-effective alternative to the existing pedestals on the market. Consequently, he designed, patented, and launched the Appian Way Systems pedestal. This system facilitates the elevation of pavers over sloped substrates and has been utilized nationwide across various applications. It has become the most popular pedestal in the Greater Puget Sound Region.
